The Sixties Radical on The Debt Ceiling and More

It’s a fresh week but it’s the same old crap over and over and over again. It’s Ground Hog Day to the max. FOX News wrote a story that the Republican Leadership made a deal in private with the Prez about raising the debt ceiling. A few minutes later the story disappeared and a new one took its place.

Now little Tim Geithner is saying on all the state run talking head shows on Sunday that the debt ceiling will be raised.

What part of broke doesn’t he get?

I know Obama and the rest the of Democrat Socialist Marxist Party want to drive this country so far into debt that it collapses and is forced into a third world status.

These folks are evil.

Obama and his band of merry destroyers are liars.

You can trust them.

It is all about changing the very fabric of this country.

The very fabric of this country is center on The God of The Bible, morals and The Ten Commandments.

What Obama and his evil minions ar doing away with morals and replacing them with anything goes or what feels good. God is replaced with the God of Government.

In the end the state rules and We The People are now servants of the state.

Morals and freedom are linked.

Just read the Constitution.

Read The Bible.

Without morals the society will collapse.

Read a real history book.

If you think I am kidding we are told how much water we can use in our toilets. How much water we can use to water the lawns. What kind of food we can eat and how much. What kind of cars we can drive.

The list is endless.

Obama is driving up gas prices and food prices.

They are stealing from us in the form of government projects. Right now the average family pays close to 60% in taxes.

This includes all taxes.

What John Boehner and the Republican leadership don’t understand is this Obama and his evil minions will stop at nothing to get what they want.

Obama, the Left, the Democrat Socialist party, and the state run media must be destroyed.

Their ideas and actions are killing us.

Over sixty million babies are murdered each year under the guise of Planned Parenthood and women’s health.

Women’s health is now a code for abortion.

Look folks this really simple.

Our nation doesn’t have two more years.

We have to stop Obama now.

It is time to fight for our rights and the very survival of our nation.

We can’t afford to have budgets with 385 million in cuts.

Fake cuts.

Paul Ryan’s budget is a start.

Raising the debt ceiling will lead us further into the abyss.

It is time to draw a line in the sand just like Colonel Travis did at the Alamo.

If you want to stay and fight and probably die then cross the line if not then stay where you are and go home.

All 180 men crossed the line.

It is time the Republican leadership realizes we are in a life and death situation.

Time is running out.

This not politics as usual.

It is time to take up the arms of freedom, The God of The Bible and fight back until the evil is destroyed.

This will not be easy.

Only real men need to apply.

Fake ones go home.

Here is some food thought from The Heritage Foundation-

Hiding Future Tax Hikes on Tax Day 2011

Today, April 15, is typically Tax Day. Taxpayers would usually be furiously figuring out how much they owe Uncle Sam right about now. In case you didn’t know it, taxpayers this year get a three-day reprieve because of a holiday in Washington, D.C., commemorating President Abraham Lincoln’s emancipation of slaves in the District.

No matter what day Tax Day falls on in coming years, we’ll all be paying considerably higher taxes unless Washington’s reforms its reckless spending ways immediately. To make matters worse, Washington has been able to hide this enormous potential tax hike through all the deficit spending it is doing now.

In 2010, the federal government collected about $2.2 trillion in total tax revenue. Income taxes accounted for $900 billion of collections, or about 40 percent of all tax receipts. The federal government spent around $3.5 trillion, with the resulting deficit of $1.3 trillion made possible by borrowing.

If Congress, rather than borrowing or cutting spending, raised income taxes by the $1.3 trillion necessary to pay for 2010 deficit spending, it would need to more than double income tax collections.

For a family of four earning $50,000 that takes the standard deduction, its current tax bill of $766 would increase by almost $4,000. A similar family of four that earned $75,000 a year would see its tax liability of $4,500 increase by over $9,000 a year. If the same family earned $100,000, it would pay more than $15,600 above the $8,800 it actually paid in 2010.

The top rate in this depressing scenario would be 85 percent! A top tax rate at that level would grind economic activity to a halt.

It is doubtful that the President and Congress would really raise rates to these levels and suffer the economic and political damage that such hikes would cause. The real danger is that, through continued trillion-dollar deficits, they would hide the true cost of government to the taxpayers.

On our current trajectory, interest on the debt from all the deficit spending we’re doing now—combined with the costs of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid—will consume all tax revenue by 2021. Raising taxes in the face of such a specter will not solve the problem, as entitlement and interest spending continue to balloon out of control. Tax rates would have to be raised perpetually to keep pace.

Don’t be fooled. Higher tax rates and the slower-growing economy that would come with them are not inevitable. But Congress and the President must cut spending, and they must do so soon—before interest expenses and entitlement spending take off.

It is time for Congress and the President to stop the current trajectory of massive spending and borrowing and be honest with the American people about the hidden deficit taxes that they are asking them to pay in the future. As millions of American taxpayers are finding out on Tax Day, taxes are already too high. Rather than pass on these hidden deficit taxes, it is time for Washington to get to work and cut spending.

The Sixties Radical on Marxism and The Prez

The Prez has played the class warfare card as well as the race card and just about every other card in the deck to destroy the folks who are making this country work.

Let me be very clear Obama is evil. He is hell bent on destroying this country.

It is no simpler than that.

He is an idiot but the Chief Idiot Obama knows exactly what he is doing.

This is all done on purpose.

Obama said it is all about hope and change.

It is.

This may offend some folks but lets look at the facts.

Since Obama took office unemployment has jumped from 5.5% all the way to 16% even though the state run numbers state it is at 8.8%.

The state lies.

The Government has spend trillions of dollars on GM, the Banks, Wall Street, GE, and everything in between to take over these industries under the guise of a government bail out.

In turn food prices have sky rocketed as well as gas prices.

This was done by Obama to drive up the cost of food and gas so the government will step in and take over everything.

Obama is forcing us to pay more for everything by limiting supply.

Jobs are not being created in the private sector.

The only jobs being created are by the state and federal governments.

Taxes will be raised on the so-called rich but only 2% of the population makes more that 250 grand a year.

Guess what we will all have our taxes raised.

The evil Obama and his buds in the Democrat party think it is their money not ours.

This is a key point.

The change is Obama is hell bent on turning this country into a
Marxist state.

Obama looks to the state for greatness while our founding fathers looked to The God of the Bible and the individual for greatness.

The hope is that the America people are stupid enough to buy into it.

In November 2011 We The People finally woke up and said what in the heck are we doing. This has to be stopped.

This is why The Tea Party was formed.

We The People swept into office politicians who were supposed to stop the change of our country from a Republic to a Marxist state.

Yet, the idiots on the Republican side of the isle more specifically the Republican Leadership John Boehner etal think this is business as usual.

We are in a fight for our lives.

We don’t have time to debate the margins or buy into the left’s arguments that bull crap cuts will kill babies, kill poor people, or everyone else.

The real truth is when this country collapses everyone will get screwed.

We must remember that this is more than about spending ourselves silly like a bunch of drunken Marxists it is all about morals and how this country has gotten away from our roots.

Our roots can be summed up in these words. Our Country at its very core is based upon The God of The Bible, The Bible, and The Ten Commandments.

The hounds of hell are at our very doors.

Obama is one of the hounds of hell.

His bidders are Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, the Democrat Party, The Left, and the state run media.

Mark Levin has nailed it.

Rush Limbaugh has nailed it.

If you think I am kidding look at the Roman Empire, Greece, France, England and every European and world country for they all have one thing in common socialism and Marxism.

The moral fiber went to hell in a hand basket and the state  replaced the morals  with the God of government and  anything goes

The United States and Israel are the last bastions of hope for the world.

Now we are turning back on the only real friend we have in the world Israel.

The God of The Bible protects Israel.

Please consider these quotes from our founding fathers-

“I have tender reliance on the mercy of the Almighty; through the merits of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am a sinner. I look to Him for mercy; pray for me.”
Alexander Hamilton Last dying words, 12 July 1804

“This is all the inheritance I give to my dear family. The religion of Christ will give them one which will make them rich indeed.”
Patrick Henry Last will and testament, November 20, 179

“Suppose a nation in some distant region should take the Bible for their only Law Book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited… What a paradise would this region be!”
John Adams 1756 America’s Second President

“It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge to Providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and to humbly implore His protection and favor.”
George Washington October 3, 1789 Proclaiming a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving

If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will go on prospering and to prosper; but if we and our posterity neglect its instructions and authority, no man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overwhelm us and bury all our glory in profound obscurity.”
Daniel Webster 1821

“We have been assured, Sir, in the Sacred Writings, that ‘except the Lord build the House, they labor in vain that build it.’ I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without His concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel.”
Benjamin Franklin Statement he made at the Constitutional Convention June 28, 1787

The Sixties Radical on Our Nation

While the Republicans took it in the shorts over the budget cave we must remember the United States is not a Socialist country. We are founded upon the principle of freedom. All men are created equal. This means in the eyes of the Lord God almighty. All liberties come from the creator. All men yearn to be free. Our founding Fathers knew this and this is why they wrote the Constitution. This little piece of paper served this great country of ours well to the turn of the twentieth century then all hell broke loose. Men like Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, Bill Clinton, George H. Bush, George W. Bush and now his majesty and Messiah Barrack Obama think and believe that the God of the government is king.

Not so fast bucko.

Since the turn of the twentieth century man has seen the greatest explosion in wealth and invention the world has ever seen.

The combustion engine, flight, electricity, the light bulb, computers, medical advances such as such as vaccines against small pox, polio, open heart surgery, all came about to American ingenuity and blessings from the Lord God almighty.

All of these advancements were the direct result of folks like George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin just to name a few of our founding fathers who believed that when you take the shackles off of the people and let them live under a limited form of government the sky is limit.

Now the evil Obama and his minions are forcing us to live under the tyranny of the God of government.

Here are some words to think about- “You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

By the late Dr. Adrian Rogers, 1931- 2005, former Pastor Bellview Baptist Church, Memphis

One more note- the real truth came out about the budget cave deal. Can you believe it two millions dollars of real cuts. This is the biggest budget deal in history.

Biggest deal my rear end.

You Republicans are real chicken shits.

Way to give us the taxpayers the real shaft you blow hard John Boehner.

Here’s some more words to think about-

Benjamin Franklin (Alice J. Hall, “Philosopher of Dissent: Benj. Franklin,” National Geographic, Vol. 148, No. 1, July, 1975, p. 94.)

“Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we called it the word of a demon, than the word of God. It is a history of wickedness, that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind.” – Thomas Paine (The Age of Reason, 1794-1795.)

Every man “ought to be protected in worshipping the Deity according to the dictates of his own conscience.” – George Washington (Letter to the United Baptist Churches in Virginia in May, 1789)

“Question with boldness even the existence of a god.” – Thomas Jefferson (letter to Peter Carr, 10 August 1787)

“When a Religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and God does not take care to support it so that its Professors are obliged to call for help of the Civil Power, it is a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one.” – Benjamin Franklin (from a letter to Richard Price, October 9, 1780;)

I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of… Each of those churches accuse the other of unbelief; and for my own part, I disbelieve them all.”- Thomas Paine (The Age of Reason, 1794-1795.)

“Is uniformity attainable? Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half the world fools and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error
all over the earth.” – Thomas Jefferson (Notes on Virginia, 1782; from George Seldes, ed., The Great Quotations, Secaucus, New Jersey: Citadel Press, 1983, p. 363.)

“During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What have been its fruits? More or less in all places, pride and indolence in the Clergy, ignorance and servility in the laity; in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution.” – James Madison (Memorial and Remonstrance against Religious Assessments, 1785.)

“Where do we find a precept in the Bible for Creeds, Confessions, Doctrines and Oaths, and whole carloads of other trumpery that we find religion encumbered with in these days?” – John Adams

“The civil rights of none shall be abridged on account of religious belief or worship, nor shall any national religion be established, nor shall the full and equal rights of conscience be in any manner, or on any pretence, infringed.” – James Madison (Original wording of the First Amendment; Annals of Congress 434 (June 8, 1789).)

The Sixties Radical on the GOP Cave

The media is proclaiming that the Republicans were the winners. Yet, how come only the Dems and the Prez were the only ones proclaiming victory.

This is pure bull crap.

John Boehner and his idiots caved.

The Dems will still call the cuts the Republicans want to make Draconian.

They will want to raise the debt ceiling.

The wizards of smart on our side are saying get what you can then cut and run.

This strategy will only embolden the Dems and The Prez.

The Prez is now calling for tax increases on all folks making 250 grand a year.

Soon this will sink to 200 thou and then every one will get tax increases.

The real truth everyone who makes more that forty grand a year will get killed by the taxman.

It all comes down to this John Boehner and his men are chicken shit.

They screamed from the roof tops no government shut down. There is no such thing as a government shut down.

John Boehner has a bulletproof majority in the House however, they are acting like they are scared of what the media, the Dems and the Prez will say about them.

It is time for balls to wall.

Face the facts that WE ARE BROKE.

We as nation are fast heading into the abyss of no return.

Round one to the Dems.

38.5 million in cuts when you have a six trillion dollars in spending is like cutting a .005 cents out of spending.

While the media, calls you John Boehner a winner you have sold your very soul to the devil.

Guess what if you think this round was bad wait until Paul Ryan’s budget hits the fan.

This round was child’s play compared to what will happen next.

Here are some thoughts since when does planned parenthood and abortion have anything to do with women’s health?

Please tell me when senior citizens have not gotten food to eat or have not received their social security checks?

The poor still receive food stamps, drive their cars, watch color TV’s, have cell phones and computers, have running water and electricity.

So, stop buying into this bull crap.

Stand up and fight for us the people who are forced to pay for everything from healthcare to government workers homes, food, clothing, and jobs.

We don’t have the money.

Where does it say anywhere we have to pay for our neighbors?

What part of thou shall not steal don’t you get?

Just take a look at the Ten Commandments and this will give you an eye opener has to how many the Prez, the Dems, the Left, and you John Boehner are breaking.

We as a nation kill more than ten million babies a year.

This is what abortion is killing.

It is not just about money but morals.

Once a nations morals go south the economy is the last to go.

This is the truth.

Read The Bible.

Read The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire.

Read our Constitution.

The nation is on the verge of collapse.

Only the God of the Bible can help us.

The Sixties Radical on Media Frenzy

The media frenzy and panic over the fake government shut down glosses over the problems this country is having. The real truth is this the government will not shut down. Sure, Jelly Stone Park, the museums, and God forbid some government employees will stop working.

The Dems and the Prez are playing games with our very lively hoods. Welfare recipients, the God almighty government workers, and God knows who else are more important than our military.

The Republicans passed a bill that would pay the military until the end of the year yet the Dems and The Prez are screaming bloody murder over the riders attached to the bill.

Nancy Pelosi and the evil gang attached riders to every bill they have passed.

Obama care had rider attached to a bill that kicked in millions of dollars to implement the take over the healthcare system in this country.

Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, The Prez, and the Dems are liars.

You can’t get a straight answer if their very lives depended upon it.

The cause of this mess is the evil Prez Obama and his merry band of Marxists.

Nancy Pelosi and her gang had control of Congress since 2007 and not a single budget was passed.

To hide the real truth of what they wanted to do.

Change this country into a Marxists nation.

The God of the government is king in Prez Obama’s and his Dem destroyer’s eyes.

The Dems are ones who want the government to shut down.

Because the Dems polling numbers indicate that the Republicans will take the hit.

The Dems are more concerned with getting their power back than leading this country in the right direction.

A real fix is needed.

No seniors will not lose their social security checks.

Medicaid and Medicare will still take care of the seniors.

Old folks will not starve.

The poor will not stop eating or driving cars or watching their color TVs.

They will still have computers and Internet service.

The poor will still have running water and electricity.

If you want to see real poor go to Brasil.

I will show you real poor folks.

The American poor are actually rich compared with the poor in Brasil.

Try Africa or the Middle East.

China tamben.

I guess in the end this is all a distraction to the Prez and the Dems.

Screw the military. Screw the people who make this country go.

In the end it is all about keeping your power, destroying the country, and turning the greatest nation on earth into a third world country run by the God of Marxism.

Hail to our leader Obama.

The God over us all.

For we will are royally screwed.

Oh I forgot the biggie killing millions of babies disquised as womens health.

The Sixties Radical on The Blame Game

The blame goes round and round as the nation nears what the media, the Prez, and Congress call a government shut down. Yet, this is so far from the truth that this makes false look right.

The real truth is that the government won’t shut down.

The only people who are affected by this budget battle are non-government employees and services.

Give me a freakin break, government employees are more important that private sector employees. If we the private sector is shut down the precious God of government won’t have us to pay for their follies.

The real blame for this mess is the Prez, The Dems, and yes, the Republicans.

Last year Nancy Pelosi and her super majority ran the House. These clowns and idiots failed to pass a budget.

How can that be?

The Dems out numbered the Republicans two to one but not a budget was passed.

Only a continuing resolution to keep the government running was passed by these idiots.

Buried deep into the resolution was a rider to fund Obama Care.

Oh, yes, I forgot the Tarp bailout passed to pay off the state and federal unions, The AFL-CIO, Banks, Government run motors, and General Electric.

The biggest slush fund in history was given out to make sure the Democrat party stays in power and money forever.

Yet, these clowns forgot us the common folk who formed the Tea Party and took control of Congress in January 2011.

Now, Harry Reid, the Prez, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck You Schumer, and the rest of the state run media now are instructed to blame the Tea Party for all the nations problems.

Let’s get real.

Prez Obama has spent three trillion dollars in his first two years in office.

Now he has the balls to demand a budget when in fact Obama and his party are to blame for the mess we are in now.

The Republicans spent money like a bunch of drunken sailors too.

Right now the Constitution is a worth less piece of paper.

Both parties are re writing the constitution to fit their very needs.

If you can’t win at the ballot box then find judges who will re write law or make up law to suit whatever your needs are.

Does Wisconsin strike a familiar note?

Only Rep Paul Ryan has a set of balls to write a real budget that will address the nations problems head on.

Ryan said the Dems will demonize his budget.

This is exactly what is happening.

Ryan said bring it on.

In football terms this is called flood the zone and force the “D” to defend everything.

The sad fact is that we are broke.

If these people get their way the nation is doomed.

What part of thou shall not steal doesn’t the Dems, state and federal workers, state and federal unions get.

You expect me and millions of people like me pay for your job and healthcare  house, food, and clothing.

I work for my money.

I work for a private sector company.

I have worked in the private sector all my life.

I am tired of paying for Harry Reid’s Nancy Pelosi, Chuck You Schumer, and the rest of the Democrat, and Republican parties pay offs to their supporters.

The gig is up.

The Sixties Radical on Government Cuts

I hope the news is correct about what is happening in the budget battle. If what the Dems are saying is correct then we are royally screwed. Let’s hope John Boehner is not lying when he said that a budget deal has not been struck.

Let’s hope the story reported by Fox News is correct that House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan is not lying when he said that there would be 1.1 trillion cut over the next decade.

My question is how much will be cut in 2011 and 2012 budgets?

If it is only 61 million we will be whistling Dixie.

This is like cutting a ½ cent out of five trillion dollars.

Both sides are playing games with our very lives and the life of the nation.

This isn’t politics as usual. We are in dire straights. If our house doesn’t get in order soon the United States will collapse.

Maybe this is the plan the Obama and his evil minions want.

The Dems are shouting from the rooftops that oil and gas is getting a break, the poor will suffer, the state and federal workers will suffer, Medicaid and Medicare will get cut, social security will get cut, I mean the list is ad nasium.

This is done to paint the Republicans as the bad guys in this argument and force them to back down and let the Dems have their way.

If this were true then why didn’t the Dems write a budget when they had the power for two years?

The Dems wanted to just keep on spending money so they kept on passing continuing resolution after resolution.

This is done so that nothing can be defunded and if the Republicans try and defund lets say Obama care it will go against the house rules.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wrote in the automatic spending for Obama care would take effect in 2011.

We don’t have time to argue about the margins.

It is time to gut the budget and get real about the money we as nation can spend.

If the government took all the money of everyone who made over 250 thousand a year this would fund the government until August 3rd, 2011.

The government would have to take over every single business in the country and this would fund the government until September 31st, 2011.

Then guess what the government would have to take everyone’s income who make less than 250 grand a year. This would fund the government until December 31st, 2011.

January 1st, 2012 the government would need money to start all over again but we the people would have nothing left to give.

The government took it all.

This is real facts.

This has to stop now.

Please consider this written by The Heritage Foundation-

Harry Reid Chooses Shutdown Over Responsibility

You would think liberals in Congress have nothing better to do with their time. Amid a war in Libya, an effort to aid earthquake and tsunami-stricken Japan, a continuing war in Afghanistan, rising gas prices and endless unemployment, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and the Democratic leadership in the U.S. Senate are refusing to accept a modest agreement to fund the federal government through the end of the fiscal year. And time is running short. What’s Senator Reid wrangling over? A mere $51 billion in additional budget cuts, which amounts to a few days of government deficit spending.

But Reid’s stonewalling isn’t just about dollars and cents, or saving federal funding for a Cowboy Poetry Festival. Reid and the Democrats in Congress are setting the groundwork for a partial government shutdown so they can attempt to lay the blame at the feet of the Tea Party and Republicans in Congress and gain politically. They’re simply putting electoral politics over the business of our nation.

As it stands today, Congress has until April 8 to reach an agreement on a long-term budget through the end of FY 2011, pass another short-term stopgap budget, or face a partial government shutdown. It might seem shocking that our representatives would cut it so close. But to understand how we got here, it’s important to know where we’ve been.

Last May, then-House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) announced that, for the first time since 1974, the House would not pass a budget resolution. Never in modern history had a Congress ignored this basic mandated responsibility. Rather than stem the tide of big government spending, liberals in Congress opted to burn through borrowed cash as they pleased with no end in sight. But with the rise of the Tea Party movement and the November elections, the American people voiced their opposition to the big spending ways. They wanted Congress to get control of the budget.

Enter the 112th Congress and H.R. 1, the House Republicans’ FY 2011 budget which cut spending by $61 billion. It passed the House some 39 days ago, and yet under Reid’s leadership, the Senate has done nothing to move that bill forward or offer any serious alternative, for that matter. In the meantime, the House has passed two stopgap spending measures to temporarily fund the government, waiting for Reid to get his chamber in order.

So what are the Senate Democrats really up to? One doesn’t need to read tea leaves, hire a psychic or consult a magic eight ball. Yesterday, Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) gave America some insight into his party’s game plan. The Washington Examiner reports that on a conference call yesterday, Schumer, without realizing reporters were already listening, instructed his fellow Democratic senators to tell the reporters that the GOP is refusing to negotiate. According to the Examiner, Schumer “told the group to make sure they label the GOP spending cuts as ‘extreme.'” That is what “the caucus instructed [Schumer] to do last week.”

The spending cuts, though, are anything but extreme. As House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) said yesterday, “Chuck Schumer did us a favor, he exposed their tactic. … He’s basically instructing his members to deem any spending cut unreasonable —  any spending cut … So clearly they are not serious.” The Senate Democrats’ inaction combined with their rhetoric means one thing: they want a government shutdown at all costs, and they want to blame it on Republicans. Their end goal: more spending and supposed political gain.

Yesterday, former Democrat National Committee (DNC) Chairman Howard Dean told the audience at a National Journal Insider’s Conference: “If I was head of DNC, I would be quietly rooting for it…I know who’s going to get blamed – we’ve been down this road before.” Dean continued: “From a partisan point of view, I think it would be the best thing in the world to have a shutdown.” Reid’s inaction, Schumer’s political gamesmanship and Dean’s blunt honesty tell the whole story. This is not about putting America on a smart fiscal path, it’s about putting Democrats on a preferred political path. But it won’t work.

Reid and Democratic leadership in the Senate need to recognize that they have a job to do. As Majority Leader Cantor said: “We’ve got bigger things to deal with. Time is up here.” And with a $1.6 trillion deficit, cuts to non-defense discretionary spending are desperately needed. President Barack Obama, too, should show his face and weigh in on the stalemate. The president has been wrongly applauded for remaining silent by a complicit media; now is the time to show leadership. He can not continue to ‘vote present’ as he has throughout his career. And in anticipation of a partial shutdown, Congress should pass a Department of Defense appropriations bill to ensure that our military is fully funded.

Last November, the American people cast their vote for fiscal responsibility and a limited government that lives within its means. The many voices of the Tea Party are not entirely satisfied with a modest $61 billion in cuts. But they know that we need to make these substantive cuts and move on to the business of the next year’s budget, where more reform will be possible. The Tea Party is not the problem.

For almost two months, they have watched many of their elected representatives play politics, rather than play ball. Senator Reid, it’s time to do the right thing. Stop the political games and get to work so the government can keep fully operating and Congress can get on with the people’s business.

The Sixties Radical
