The Sixties Radical on The New Year

We are entering the New Year with lots of promise and expectations that the election will change the scope and direction of this country. I am one of them but I am not holding my breath.

There is lots of big talk coming from the newly elected Republicans. Check out these comments –Representative Mike Rogers, Michigan-We went from an intelligence-based approach to a law enforcement-based approach, and we really never asked the question, ‘Are we safer?'”

“Remember, an FBI agent can use certain psychological techniques against a gangster in New York City that the Army Field Manual would not allow a CIA case officer to use on a foreign terrorist sent here to blow up Americans,” he said. “There’s a contradiction here that we have to get to the bottom of.”

“Those kinds of things can get hindered when a law enforcement agent says, ‘Hey, you have the right to remain silent, oh by the way, if you can’t afford a lawyer, we’ll give you one, courtesy of the U.S. taxpayer,'” he said.

All of these quotes are taken from Fox News.

On first inspection, all of this sounds good. How many times have we heard this crap before?

We heard this stuff from Newt Gingrich and his gang when he took over as Speaker of the House in 1994. Gingrich said many of the same things.

Two years later, these idiots were running for cover because they were scared what the Dems and the Libs were saying about them.

I will bet you dollars to holes in a donut the endless attacks on the newly elected House members will hit the ground running on January 3rd if not before.

Talk is cheap.

Action is the key.

If these guys wusses out God forbid for there will be a revolution of the highest order.

We, the American people are tired of all of this crap.

We want our nation back.

All of us who were born here are Native Americans.

Our parents came here legally.

My grand parents did.

We must be prepared to fight for our very lives.

The Libs, the Dems, and the Prez will not stop pushing their agenda of making the United States of America a Marxists Socialist society.

This is their goal.

God is government.

Not the God of our founding fathers- The God of the Bible.

We must stop at nothing to destroy their ideas.

We have to keep on teaching, using the words of Rush Limbaugh.

Read this headline from FOX-

Bipartisanship or Gridlock? Despite Breakthroughs, Lawmakers Face Rocky Session in 2011

We are being set up to accept compromise. What the Libs have in mind is that we bend over backwards and take it in the butt.

This is the truth.

Doctor Walter E. Williams is one of my heroes. Here are some of Doctor Williams quotes.

Democracy and liberty are not the same. Democracy is little more than mob rule, while liberty refers to the sovereignty of the individual.

The War between the States… produced the foundation for the kind of government we have today: consolidated and absolute, based on the unrestrained will of the majority, with force, threats, and intimidation being the order of the day. Today’s federal government is considerably at odds with that envisioned by the framers of the Constitution. … [The War] also laid to rest the great principle enunciated in the Declaration of Independence that ‘Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed’.

Try this thought experiment. Pretend you’re a tyrant. Among your many liberty-destroying objectives are extermination of blacks, Jews and Catholics. Which would you prefer, a United States with political power centralized in Washington, powerful government agencies with detailed information on Americans and compliant states or power widely dispersed over 50 states, thousands of local jurisdictions and a limited federal government?

Experts and the educated elite have replaced what worked with what sounded good. Society was far more civilized before they took over our schools, prisons, welfare programs, police departments, and courts. It’s high time we ran these people out of our lives and went back to common sense.

The framers gave us the Second Amendment not so we could go deer or duck hunting but to give us a modicum of protection against congressional tyranny.

Before you have a cow carefully, examine what Doctor Williams has to say.  It is based upon freedom and it is rooted in the Constitution of The United States of America.

More Doctor Williams quotes-

There are people in need of help. Charity is one of the nobler human motivations. The act of reaching into one’s own pockets to help a fellow man in need is praiseworthy and laudable. Reaching into someone else’s pocket is despicable and worthy of condemnation.

Three-fifths to two-thirds of the federal budget consists of taking property from one American and giving it to another. Were a private person to do the same thing, we’d call it theft. When government does it, we euphemistically call it income redistribution, but that’s exactly what thieves do — redistribute income. Income redistribution not only betrays the founders’ vision, it’s a sin in the eyes of God.

Government is necessary, but the only rights we can delegate to government are the ones we possess. For example, we all have a natural right to defend ourselves against predators. Since we possess that right, we can delegate authority to government to defend us. By contrast, we don’t have a natural right to take the property of one person to give to another; therefore, we cannot legitimately delegate such authority to government.

Freedom is our greatest asset. Without individual freedom and private property rights, our nation would not exist.

Our Founding Fathers knew this.

I am commonly opposed to those who modestly assume the rank of champions of liberty, and make a very patriotic noise about the people. It is the stale artifice which has duped the world a thousand times, and yet, though detected, it is still successful. I love liberty as well as anybody. I am proud of it, as the true title of our people to distinction above others; but…I would guard it by making the laws strong enough to protect it.

Fisher Ames, letter to George Richard Minot, June 23, 1789

I am not a Virginian, but an American.

Patrick Henry, speech in the First Continental Congress, September 6, 1774

I believe a time will come when an opportunity will be offered to abolish this lamentable evil. Everything we do is to improve it, if it happens in our day; if not, let us transmit to our descendants, together with our slaves, a pity for their unhappy lot and an abhorrence of slavery.

Do You Want a Wide Ride?

Follow God’s Directions and See Where He Takes You

The words from the song All the Earth by the Parachute Band keep playing over and over in my head, ” Lord, I will Glorify and Bless Your holy name.”

I don’t know why these words are singing in my head but they are. I think God put them there for specific reason. Why? I don’t really know.

This one thought has been kicking around in my mind since last Saturday. I have been asking myself as well a dear friend of mine Father George what is so bad about getting to the top of the mountain.

Last Saturday I went to a men’s seminar at The Church On The Way. The guest keynote speaker was former UCLA basketball great and former NBA player and broadcaster Keith Erickson. One of his comments hit me like a ton of bricks. Erickson told us he has been to the top of the mountain and there is nothing there. He later went on to explain how author Ernest Hemingway committed suicide by blowing his brains out.

Erickson seems to think that there is really nothing at the top of the mountain. I beg to differ with him. If you walk up the mountain with God, there are kinds of wonderful treasures you can share with the rest of the world. However, if you go up the mountain without God you just might find a living hell.

One truth I have learned in my 57 years living on this good old earth is that you can’t give away something you haven’t got.

When I look at people, I see folks who can achieve whatever their dreams are if they are willing to work for their dreams to come true. The possibilities are endless for anyone who lives in The USA. We are born in the greatest nation on earth. God has blessed The USA with an abundant wealth and freedom. Our founding fathers were all Christians. They read the Bible daily. They all accepted Jesus as the personal saviour and this directly resulted in The United States of America to have abundant blessings from God.

What does this have to do with the price of tea in China? Everything. This is the set up for us to take a look at Ernest Hemingway and his suicide.

Hemingway made it to the top of the writing mountain. He was a world famous writer but he was also an alcoholic. But the alcoholic part is exactly the key truth to the story of Ernest Hemingway that Keith Erickson left out.
Ernest Hemingway was an alcoholic. I don’t know if Hemingway went to AA meetings or not. AA meetings were certainly available if he wanted to go.

I will bet you dollars to holes in a donut that booze had a big factor if not the primary factor that led to Hemingway taking a shotgun and blowing his brains out. This is just an educated guess based on my experience.

According to the book Alcoholics Anonymous Comes of Age, Bill Wilson and Doctor Bob Smith in Akron Ohio founded the Program of Alcoholics Anonymous on June 10th, 1935. From these humble beginnings AA has flourished. AA is just about in very corner of the world. However, this is not the point of this story. The point is that God brought these two men of divergent backgrounds together to help them, form one of the greatest tools that helped drunks get sober and cured of Alcoholism. Yes, I said cured.

The real roots of Alcoholic Anonymous are based on Biblical principles. According AA historian Dick B these roots can be traced to the God of the Bible and his Son Jesus Christ who was crucified so that man would have eternal life if he believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as his saviour. This simple yet effective truth help Bill Wilson and Doctor Bob form the Akron group and help many men to get and stay sober. Doctor Bob and Bill Wilson found that studying The Book of James, 1st Corinthians 13, The Sermon on the Mount specifically Mathew 5, 6, 7, daily reading and studying of the Bible, and MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal saviour was the only true way for a drunk to achieve permanent sobriety.

In the early days of AA that began in Akron, Ohio, Doctor Bob and Bill Wilson found that these simple yet effective spiritual tools helped the first forty men that Doctor Bob and Bill Wilson shared the Christian message of AA with achieved continuous sobriety.

This miracle happened in little out of the way place named Akron, Ohio. So, what does this have to with climbing the top of the mountain and Ernest Hemmingway blowing out his brains with a shotgun I will show you in a very simple yet effective way.

Moses was chosen by God to lead the Jewish people out of Egypt and into the Promised Land. God chose Moses to meet with him on Mount Sinai and God gave Moses The Ten Commandments. Exodus 19:20 The New King James

Version states, ” Then the Lord came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.”

When Moses went at the top of mountain to meet with God Moses was given The Ten Commandments. These were instructions on how to live from God.

God first revealed himself to Moses in the desert as a burning bush. Later on in Exodus God had numerous conversations with Moses on the top of Mount Sinai and God told Moses exactly what He wanted him to do. In Exodus 19:3, New International Translation, “Then Moses went up to God, and the Lord called him from the mountain and said, “This is what you are to say to the house of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel.”

In Exodus 20:1, New International Translation Moses once again was summoned to the mountaintop. “And God spoke these words.”

Exodus 20:2, New International Translation, ” I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.”

All I am sharing with you is that when God calls you to go to the top of mountain it is in your best interest to go. However, if you try and climb the mountain without God in your life it will be a long hard disastrous trip. You might even loose your life like Hemingway did.

I know this from my own personal experience what it is like to disobey God. And I have suffered the consequences of those actions. This total disobedience on my part cost me my literal life.

Yet, God loved me enough to bring me back to life and show me his total love and mercy. God forgave me and He restored my life after I literally died on the operating table on May 2nd, 1972 when I was twenty-years at Sunbury Community Hospital.

Listen God Wants to Talk to You

The Person You Are Sitting Next to Might Be a Prophet or God’s Angel

Life blows my mind. Just when you have it all figured out God throws a monkey wrench in your plans and you wind up shaking your head saying, ” Okay God, what do you want me to do this time?

Throughout my life, God has revealed his plans for my life very slowly. Sometimes it’s very easy to follow God’s path while other times it’s like pulling teeth. Many times God has to take me kicking and screaming down the path He wants me to go.

God always places people in my life that He wants me to learn from. You see that’s the scary part. When that happens I think, ” Man, I’m supposed to learn from him or her? You gotta be kidding me?”

God laughs and tells me, “Yep, that’s exactly who I want you to learn from.” That’s exactly what happened to me six months ago.

To give you a little bit of history, my wife and I are members of The Church On The Way, in Van Nuys, California. We have been attending there for three years now. Yeah, I know what you are thinking; here we go with the Holy Roller stuff. Not. Please just bear with me for a few moments and you will see the nature of how God works in our lives if we listen and read the signposts that our Creator places in our path.

Every Sunday morning at 9 am, we worship at The Church On The Way. We sit in the middle section third row aisle seats right in front of the Pulpit. This is where we met Allen and Roxie. They are in their late seventies to early eighties. Their faces are warm, friendly, and full of life. Allen and Roxie have this glow about them. It’s more than a glow. I’m not too sure how to describe their look. Allen and Roxie have real peace and contentment. They are always smiling and nothing seems to bother them.

We have prayed together with them for well over six-months. We have had numerous conversations before and after church services at The Church On The Way. Over the past six months, we have slowly gotten to know Allen and Roxie.

In late September or maybe it was early October 2008, Allen and Roxie told us how they lost their home in the vicious San Fernando Valley fire that ripped through our community.

Allen and Roxie spoke of how the fire destroyed their home. They lost everything. Their entire physical possessions were gone in a puff of smoke. Sure, Allen and Roxie were a little bit sad and Allen and Roxie spoke of how the fire destroyed their home. They lost everything. Their entire physical possessions were gone in a puff of smoke. Sure, Allen and Roxie were a little bit sad and unhappy. But wouldn’t be. Instead, what I saw was a true happiness, peace, and love for the Lord.

They were at total peace with the entire incident.

For me this was very strange. I would have been screaming at God, ” What have you done to me? Why do you hate me?” Yet, they kept singing the praises of God.

How could this be? Yeah, I’m a Jesus believing Jew. I have seen first hand anti Semitism and all of that. When I was a teenager, my folks moved to Atlanta, Georgia. We lived there from 1967-69. In those days, the former grand wizard of The KKK, Lester Maddox was the governor of Georgia. Me being a Jew from New Jersey I stood out like a sore thumb. I had a big target on my back. You get the picture. Enough said.

Just before Christmas 2008, Allen and Roxie left a message on our voice mail. We returned the call and I left a message on their voice mail. The voice mail said, “This is the Tolle house.” Oh, that’s cool, I thought.

I didn’t know that Allen and Roxie are the parents of Senior Pastor Jim Tolle at The Church On The Way until they returned my phone call and told me who they were that December night.

All I saw were folks that my wife and I were comfortable talking to. I liked praying with them. I had inkling that Allen and Roxie were special people but I figured these people are really cool people to pray with and talk to so I didn’t pay much attention and I just left it at that. I am a very simple person at heart. I take people at face value and let them be themselves.

You probably won’t recognize the names Allen and Roxie Tolle but these folks were big time missionaries. They have traveled throughout the United States and to Central America to spread the word and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Two Bible passages jump out at me. Jesus told Peter in Mathew 16:18, The New International Translation, ” And I tell you Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”

Colossians 1:23, God’s Word Translation, ” This is on the condition that you continue in faith without being moved from the solid foundation of the hope that the Good News contains. You’ve heard this Good News of which I Paul become your servant throughout all creation under heaven.”

Pastor Allen and his wife Roxie Tolle put their lives on the line to serve God. They spend six years as missionaries in Managua, Nicaragua from 1954 to 1960, according to The Four Square Church Mission website.

When the Tolle’s arrived in Managua in 1954, opposing forces had influenced the government to let the unbelievers harass those who had been converted. This information I paraphrased from The Foursquare website.

I learned from The Foursquare Website, prior to the Tolle’s arrival in Managua there had been a large revival and over ten thousand had been converted to Christianity but due to a lack of missionary follow up many had slipped away.

In 1955, Allen and his wife Roxie founded The Foursquare Church in Managua. The Tolle’s did the Lord’s work in Managua, Nicaragua until Allen got sick in 1960 and had to leave.

To this day, the church in Nicaragua is still going strong and it has over five thousand members.

Today both of Allen’s sons serve the Lord as pastors. Jim Tolle is the Senior Pastor at The Church On The Way. John Tolle is the Senior Pastor at The Light House Christian Fellowship in Newberry Park, California.

What is to be learned from this long-winded story? The person that you are sitting next to in church can teach you many lessons. Who knows you might be sitting next to God’s prophet. God will work His miracles in our lives if we let him.

God’s power and grace are truly amazing.

God’s Choices Are Astounding

Moses and David Were Two of the Greatest Heroes of the Bible

I have always wondered how God goes about choosing the people he does to do his work. God’s choices on the surface do not make much sense. When you examine the choices, you will end up scratching your head in amazement.

Lets look at Moses and David, these two Biblical heroes were in modern terms life’s losers. They were not the strongest nor were Moses and David the smartest. They were the wrong choices. Moses and David had many character defects yet God chose Moses and David to become the fathers of Judaism.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why God chose those two men to be the leaders of the Jewish people. Moses was a hot head. He killed a man in a fit of anger. Moses was a stutter. He couldn’t talk right. He saw weird stuff like burning bushes that didn’t burn in the Egyptian desert.

David was a shepherd boy. His own father didn’t want anything to do with him. David was weird. He was one of those artist types. David wrote poetry. He was a musician. David hung out with sheep all day. David was an adulterer. David murdered a man.

You have to be kidding me. God chose Moses to lead the Jews out of Egypt to the Promised Land. God gave Moses The Ten Commandments. God and Moses spoke to each other all the time. God gave Moses the words to write the first five books of the Bible. Moses was the lawgiver for the tribes of Israel. This is pure craziness.

David was the greatest king that Israel ever had. David killed Goliath. David’s son Solomon built the Holy Temple in the city of Jerusalem. God’s Son Jesus was a direct descendant of David. Every Jewish person born traces his or her heritage back to David.

David and Moses do not seem like very logical choices or are they?

Let us look very closely at the life of Moses. Moses was supposed to die at birth. The king of Egypt directed that all male children born to Hebrew women were to be killed. Exodus 1:16 The Amplified Bible states, ” When you act as midwives to the Hebrew women, and see them on the birth stool, if it is a son, you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, she shall live.”

The Hebrew midwives in charge of these deeds decided to disobey Pharaoh and let the Hebrew males live. This angered Pharaoh. He saw more and more Hebrews being born and taking over the land. Pharaoh issued a new directive, Exodus 1:22 The Amplified Bible, ” Then Pharaoh charged all his people saying, Every son born (to the Hebrews) you shall cast into the river (Nile), but every daughter you shall allow to live.”

Moses’ mom Jochebed hid him for three months before she put Moses in a basket and sent him down the Nile. This is the crazy part. Guess who found Moses. Pharaoh’s daughter decided to take a bath and that’s when she discovered Moses on the bank of the Nile. Pharaoh’s daughter gave Moses back to his mother so she would nurse him. When Moses became older, he was returned to live with Pharaoh’s daughter. She named him Moses,” Because I drew him out of the water, ” Exodus 2:10, The Amplified Bible.

Moses, now grown up, came upon an Egyptian beating up a Hebrew slave. Moses became enraged. He looked around to make sure no one saw him and killed the Egyptian. The next day Moses stumbled upon two Hebrew men arguing and fighting. Moses asked them to stop but one of the men fired back at Moses, Exodus 2:14, The New Living Translation, ” Who do you think you are?” replied the man. “Who appointed you to be our prince and judge? Do you plan to kill me as you killed that Egyptian yesterday?” Moses was badly frightened because he realized that everyone knew what he had done.”

Pharaoh put a contract hit on Moses. Moses split the scene. He ran away to the desert. He hid there for forty years until God revealed himself to Moses in a burning bush.

Saul was the king of Israel. Saul got himself into hot water with God. Saul decided to disobey and reject God. God became angry with Saul so the Lord sent Samuel in search of a new king. The Lord directed Samuel to Jesse. The Lord said to Samuel, 1 Samuel 16:1, The New Living Translation,” Find a man named Jesse who lives there, for I selected one of his sons to be my new king.”

Jesse paraded all seven of his sons before the prophet Samuel however the Lord rejected them all. Samuel asked Jesse, 1 Samuel 16:11, The New Living Translation, ” Are these all the sons you have? ” ” There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied. “But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep. “Send for him at once,” Samuel said. ” We will not sit until he arrives.”

David never entered his father’s house. David hung out with sheep. He was the weirdo of the family. David played the harp. He wrote poetry. He was the runt of the family. He was not at all like his older brothers. They were the warriors of the family. They were born to lead.

Samuel 16:12 The New Living Translation, described David as, ” He was ruddy and handsome, with pleasant eyes.” The rest of the verse states, ” And the Lord said, ” This is the one, anoint him.” Samuel did and he left.

David’s family was in total shock. David was going to be the next King of Israel. He’s not a leader. David’s not a warrior. He’s handsome. Abinadab and Shammah are the real leaders and warriors not David.

Goliath came on the scene and he challenged the manhood of Israel. The entire Israeli army cowered in fear. David heard the ranting of Goliath and so he stepped forward to fight the Goliath. 1 Samuel 17:45 states, ” David shouted in reply, ” You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to in the name the LORD Almighty? the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.”

” Today the LORD will conquer you, and I will cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is one God in Israel,” 1 Samuel 17; 46 The New Living Translation.

” And everyone will know that the LORD does not need weapons to rescue his people, It is his battle, not ours. The LORD will give you to us.” 1 Samuel 17:47 The New Living Translation.

David killed Goliath. God had his victory and the world knew that THE LORD is one true God.
